These are props I created in Illustrator and then imported into Toon Boom as backgrounds. I found them a lot easier to create in illustrate and also achieved a better result because it offers more as a software specially for illustrations. I found it very useful as they could be used very often and and yet not be very noticeable, depending how they are used. Most of which I have simply modified some things of the original and distorted slightly or mirror it so they seem different. Also I have combined some things to create one new object which saves work but definitely adds to the look and feel.
This bush was created using a gradient using light to dark - top to bottom thus giving a slight shade to it, followed by another layer of a completely black shape which I then lowered the transparency on.
These were created from the same bush as the above one without the shade and then duplicated several times.
This is a fence or the back garden crated with one rectangle stretched out and given a gradient to from light to dark. I then duplicated them several times next to each other to achieve that look.
The following are some flowers that would be added to the animation just to make the surrounding more colourful as I found that the backgrounds were more just very similar tones of green which need to be changed.
This is the start of the house I tried using gradients on each brick but failed to achieve the look I was aiming for.
This is then the other style I came up with and got the idea from some closed blinds in my mom's bedroom. They gave the house a more smoother, richer look to it which is a lot better and very much what I was aiming for.
This is just the interior of the house used for the one scene where the dad walks past and notices that his son is not visible in the garden and then runs out to check.
A side angle of the house for a particular scene but although closer to the angle I was aiming for, it wasn't consistent with the house I drew before so after counting the amount of horizontal "boards" there were on my previous house, I then drew them according and then got the final image which is below.
These are tiles used for the back garden. Done it as a huge square as I can then manipulate within Toon Boom and distort to get the required look and angle.
Some momountains used for the background in numerous scenes. It could simply be stretched and since it's so far away i could show different parts of the mountains depending on where the scene is taking place.
This single tree was used thoughout the entire animation. I just kept duplicating this and in some cases flipped it.
This piece of bush is for after the boy (Adao) leaves his home and falls into sin whereby the colours arent as bright as they once were and everything seems to by dying.
This was a test that might have been used for the trees after Adao fell into sin and an attempt to break out of my style temporarily and trying to adopt one of the 2nd year's drawing style so his work could be included, however because of the way it was done in illustrator, I found myself having problems importing it into Toon Boom so it could not be used.
So instead I did this, basically an almost dead tree with no leaves and s few others.

The following 3 images are parts of the ditch that t the young boy fell into.
